The Church: Santuario de San Antonio

When we first planned our wedding (which was supposed to happen in 2011), we chose Christ the King in Green Meadows and the reception to be in Sitio Elena, a venue with a garden ambience. We visited the place during one of my many trips to Manila but, in the end, things got a bit sidetracked.

So when we started planning for the 2012 wedding, my fiance opted for a different church, saying that he wants the wedding to push through this time. Not that he believes in bad luck but he would rather choose a new church for this wedding. Back to zero, fresh start, new planning.

I chose Santuario de San Antonio Parish simply because of its proximity to Manila Polo Club. We initially set our sights on the Polo Club as the venue for our reception but we had to drop it because of "complicated" requirements. We had to become members and attend meetings, which is impossible because I am not based in Manila.

We then reserved the church and looked for a different venue. I like this church. Its surroundings are quiet and solemn, very ideal for an intimate wedding. And I love its magnificent altar!

We are given three months before the wedding to start completing the church's requirements. On top of the list is attending a couple's retreat, a Discovery Weekend conducted by Marriage Preparation Foundation, Inc. I was hoping we could attend its retreat in April (when I was in town) but it was fully-booked. So now, we're hoping to attend in June and eventually submit our requirements one by one.

Yes! That means I'm flying back to Manila again soon!
